LabelWriter

LabelWriter

There are several possible reasons for this:
  • There are no labels inserted,
  • the labels are not inserted correctly
  • the labels are inserted but not left-justified,
  • there is paper dust or a piece of a label blocking the sensor,
  • the labels you are using do not have the index marks (oval perforations) properly cut out between each pair of labels,
  • you are not using DYMO Authentic labels,
  • the photo sensor that reads the index mark has failed.
  • If the latter is the case, please contact DYMO Technical Support.

LabelWriter printers require specially treated thermal direct labels that are not compatible with any other printing technology. These thermal direct labels must be compatible with DYMO Printers and stored properly. We recommend that you use authentic DYMO LabelWriter brand labels to ensure compatibility and quality. Other brand labels may not work properly with your printer or may damage it and void your warranty. Please contact DYMO Consumer Service if you need help with selecting the right labels for your LabelWriter.

Pull apart the spool, the part of the spool with the spindle should be in your left hand. With your right hand, pick up the roll of labels and place it near the spool. Carefully slide the roll of labels on the spool, following the white arrow. Push the roll of labels firmly on the spool so that the notches on the base of the spool enter the cardboard core of the labels. There should be no gap between the base of the spool and the roll of labels. With your right hand pick up the other piece of the spool. Carefully slide it down the spindle. Ensure that the notches enter the cardboard core of the labels. The spool should be clamping down tightly on the roll of labels. Place the spool in the LabelWriter. Ensure the labels are justified left.

To expose or retract the cutter blade: Press the button on the front of the tape (lower) compartment to open it. If a tape cartridge is loaded, remove it. Raise the cover on the label (upper) compartment. Hold down the form feed button. While pressing the form feed button, press down on the black back-feed button (to the right of the label path in the label compartment). This will cause the tape cutter blade to change from the hidden position to the exposed position. If you wish to clean the blade at this point, it is recommended that you do this with rubbing alcohol and a cotton swab.
